8 Tips For Making the Most of Your CSA Share
Updated March 31, 2022
We love growing veggies–and we love when YOU love to eat your veggies! These 8 tips will help you make the most of your weekly CSA share and truly enjoy your veggie adventure.
-
Know what’s coming in your share.
Every Saturday, I’ll let you know what’s going to be in next week’s CSA share. I’ll email you the list and post it in our private CSA Facebook group, so keep an eye out for this info!
-
Know WHEN and HOW to pick up your share.
When you signed up for our CSA, you chose from one of our designated distribution times to get your veggies each week. We email you a reminder each week, but we also recommend putting your pick-up dates in your calendar. And if you want to know more about the HOW before you get started, check out my post on How Distribution Works.
-
Transport your veggies with love and care.
Bring your own box, bag, or (even better!) insulated cooler to transport your veggies from our farm to your home. This not only provides a secure place for veggie transportation but also helps all of us reduce single-use plastic use/waste.

-
Properly store your produce as soon as possible.
We have storage guides for each season of CSA to help you keep your veggies fresh and tasty for whenever you’re ready to eat them!
-
Keep track of your fridge inventory.
Use a whiteboard or this tool to list what’s in your fridge. This way your yummy veggies don’t get “lost” in your fridge.
-
Meal plan.
When I first started cooking, I planned our meals a month in advance, and I was pretty rigid about sticking to it. Now I plan around whatever looks best at our farm! For you, I encourage you to plan around the veggies in your CSA share. I–along with other farm members–post recipes in our private CSA Facebook group, and you can also find recipes right here in this farm blog.
-
Engage in our CSA community.
Our farm members have so much knowledge and experience cooking with veggies, and they love to share their ideas! This can happen in person at CSA distribution and in our private CSA Facebook group. We want to hear your ideas too!

Experience the Beauty of the Farm
We like to say that we garden for you, but we know that sometimes you want to get out in nature too! That’s why we have Pick-Your-Own areas, Tracie Park, and wildlife areas on our farm. Whether you want to snip some herbs for dinner, draw, swing, or hike, we have what you need to be restored in nature.
I am so excited to be starting this I can’t wait to be able to get the fresh produce and eggs and gluten free foods my body requires
We are excited for you to start CSA this week too, Bethmarie!
My first CSA, super excited about it. Love walkibg the trails after I visit the store. Looking forward to this new experience.
Yay, Faye, we are excited for you too! See you next week!
I am so spoiled by the freshness and quality of their products, I no longer buy any of my produce from the grocery store.
Love , love CSA . Every Saturday I look forward to my ritual of pick up . I not only get to exp wonderful veggies but samples along with small talk with Julie and Dan … Great times….
